So I was fortunate enough to work on an amazing shoot for an online guide called The Wedding Scoop.  I was handed a couple of mood boards and much to my excitement, I discovered it was a Great Gatsby styled theme.

My instructions were “let’s go a little heavier on the eyes, however stay true to the actual era that we are trying to portray.”

Whenever a client asks for a heavier eye, more often than not, I will pull out my trusted MAC Cosmetics Paint Pot in Blackground.  It is the perfect base to set up a dark eye.

It is a cream based eye colour that goes on wet, but dries to an intense finish with noticeable pigments that pick up the light.  It is perfect for events, as it is long-wearing.

With a brush, I normally pat it down onto the moving lid and then blend other colours and pigments above and directly over the top.

This cream base allows you to play with additional pigments to create darker and smokier tones.

It is an essential item in my kit and comes in handy when a client asks for a heavier eye or a more “Kardashian” styled look (this is a very popular look at the moment).
